Petit St. Vincent

Petit St. Vincent is a private island located in the Grenadine island chain in the Caribbean nation of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The 115‐acre island offers just 22 individual luxurious one and two‐bedroom cottages and villas dotted along the beaches and on the bluffs. Lying well off the tourist mainstream, Petit St. Vincent could be best described by what is not there. There is no airport, no formal check in, and no keys. There are no televisions, international dial phones or Internet in the cottages. Petit St. Vincent offers one of the last truly private, unplugged luxury travel experiences in the world where wilderness and luxury coexist in harmony.

The island had undergone a major renovation project completed in November 2011. A new beach bar and restaurant, as well as a hillside spa have been built, and each of the 22 cottages have been significantly refurbished with new furniture, amenities and interior design elements added.

Accommodation

Over its varied 115‐acre terrain, 22 cottages are scattered—some on hillsides, some on cliffs and some right on the beach. There are 6 two‐bedroom villas and 16 one‐bedroom cottages.

All of the cottages have been refurnished with new furniture, bedding and soft goods, as well as reconfigured to allow more light and air‐flow throughout the cottage, creating an indoor/outdoor living experience. Unobtrusive air‐conditioning units have been added to the bedrooms for those summer days when the cooling trade winds are just not enough.

All locations offer spectacular views, privacy and proximity to beaches and facilities. Solidly built of native bluebitch stone quarried from the island itself, the cottages are spacious and open with terracotta and limestone tile floors and peaked ceilings made from purpleheart hardwood.

Each has a living room, a dressing room, bathroom and shower. Outside, flower gardens surround wooden sundecks with comfortable lounge chairs, day beds and large hammocks.

Dining

Meals are served in the main pavilion looking out on the harbor, but food and beverages can be taken in any location on the island. Most guests prefer to take breakfast and afternoon tea in their cottage, or at one of the private beach palapas dotted along the West End Beach. There is no charge for room/beach service.

As part of the 2011 renovation project, a new Beach Restaurant and bar have been added. The open‐air Beach Restaurant is a casual dining option, offering fresh, local fare with a twist. It is located just before the West End Beach, and stays open for lunch, dinner and drinks.

Petit St. Vincent has become known for its unique system for communicating with staff: whenever guests need anything—such as afternoon tea or perhaps lunch at the beach— they can fill out a form and run up the yellow flag on the driftwood pole outside their cottage (there are also flagpoles located at the West End Beach palapas). A room service driver will respond to their signal and see that the order is filled. If what they need is total privacy, they merely send up the red flag on the same pole, and no one will disturb them. It is a simple system, but one of the features guests remember most warmly. Alternatively, a dedicated line can be used to call in orders from the main restaurant or dial the reception in case of emergency or to arrange for activities.

A new spa has been constructed on a hillside overlooking the water, and has been designed to blend into the island’s surroundings offering unobstructed and private views of the harbor from each of the four treatment rooms.

Accessibility

Barbados is the major gateway with best international connections. Guests arriving in Barbados will be met by a representative of Petit St. Vincent and escorted through immigration formalities to their connecting flight to Union Island. As of November 2012 Mustique Airways will operate exclusive charter flights for PSV guest. The flight time to Union Island is approximately 50 minutes and affords beautiful views of the Grenadine Island chain. In Union Island guests will be met at the airport by our motor launch captain who will escort them aboard the boat for the 25‐ minute ride to their private island paradise.

Private jet arrivals can best be accommodated on nearby Canouan Island located 45 minutes away by boat from Petit St. Vincent. Petit St. Vincent will arrange passenger transfer with prior notice.
